Twas the night before chemo & the arrival of Baldy!

'Twas the night before chemo and all was calm.... 

So all of a sudden it doesn't seem like it's been three weeks since the last round at all. In fact it seems like just yesterday that I started the treatment! Last week I thought I had two weeks to go, turned out it was only a week. Clearly the head was still a bit confused! 

This week has seen the start to my hair loss!! Never expected to be upset by some hair, but the first day I noticed handfuls of my locks coming out did provoke a tear or two! A few days later, and the hair is noticeably thinner, the parting is balding and there's been a few more tears! However, Bald is fashionable so I hear!! All I've wanted all week is for it to last until Friday until the WightFIT social is out of the way, with hair, however it appears to be disappearing a lot more rapidly than that!! It could mean my first headscarf outing, randomly one of the scariest things about this so far! Baldy goes out socialising!! 

Following on from last week, I have remained on a buzz, feeling good for the majority of the week, planning fitness stuff to get me back in shape, and back treating patients. Headed back to St Mary's today for my oncology appointment. 

Due to the allergic reaction last session, they've decided to take me off the FEC-T drugs, and put me onto the Docetaxel I was planned to go on for the last three rounds, in combination with Carboplatin, another chemo drug. Hopefully without any reactions this time!! This does mean my sessions have been extended, so at the minute Im 1/7 of the way through the chemo! Ive also been put on extra steroids and antihistamines to try to counteract any other reactions! 

Picked up my wig, only going to be worn for special occasions! It's still a bit random thinking of my future family being in a freezer in Southampton, and my hair being in a carrier bag picked out from a catalogue!! Ive also had to find something to wear on my head whilst exercising, I don't really want to be looked at differently at work. Been sent a supply of pretty headscarves today, never did I ever think I would be in this position! 

Anyways, roll on tomorrow.... Second round! ️Xxx
